The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, known publicly as CIAA, is a top Constitutional Body, which serves as the watchdog against the vice such as the abuse of authority and the resultant chain of corruption existing in the country. The highest law of the land - The Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990 -provides for it in explicit terms in Part 12, Article 97. The fundamental directive prescribed for it is to probe cases related to abuse of authority by way of corruption, and improper activities by public officials.
